A Trans-Siberian Railroad Journey

The “binding” for La Prose is a geometric box with compartments to contain the “book” and pamphlet.  The front of the box opens in two parts and closes magnetically.  The text of La Prose is accordion folded and includes an attachment for displaying the “book” allowing the option of seeing and reading the poem in full.   
The box is covered in full magenta chagrin goatskin with various colored leather mosaics tooled over the back, front and sides representing countryside fields as if seen while traveling by train.  Impressed images of railroad tracks travel through the landscape design complimenting the text of the poem.  The leathers representing landscape were chosen for their various colors and textures and include teal chagrin, teal batiked Oasis, orange native dyed Niger, green  cape morocco and yellow Harmatan goatskin.  The box is titled on the spine in gold and includes a compass rose to suggest a reference to travel.  The inside is lined with magenta ultra suede.  The box size is 15 1/2” X 4 3/4” X 2” and is protected by cloth portfolio, lined in off-white ultra suede and tied with a ribbon chosen to reflect railroad track imagery.
