The book's spine is covered in teal cape morocco with magenta cape morocco front and back covers. The design was inspired by Carroll's original preference that the Jabberwock be illustrated on the book cover as well as Carroll's use of puzzles and illusions. A paper-mache sculpted frame, covered in green cape morocco surrounding an abalone shell "looking - glass" extends onto both front and back covers. The design was created by using a split board structure permitting the frame to be hinged along the spine edge and open out revealing the Jabberwock's head on front cover and the body on rear cover. The frame with the "looking - glass" is held in closed position using concealed magnets, manifesting the playful imagery of the story.
The Jabberwock was created with bind, palladium and gold tooled mosaics of green cape morocco and onlays of various reptile skins. Consistent with the text, the Jabberwock has a red (box calf) flame in his eye with his "burbles" extending beyond fame onto front cover. One hopes the viewer's curiosity will encourage him to look beyond the mirror to solve the puzzle. The looking glass may be held open with a small magnetic cylinder, found in the box, and placed along bottom edge of the frame near the spine. The doublures and fly leaves are of dichromatic organza and magenta suede. The book is titled in gold and housed in a protective clam shell style box.
